There really is only one word for this book: Powerful.
Delany has died, sort of. She fell under the ice of her neighborhood lake and stayed there for 11 minutes, too long for anyone to survive. However, she did. By some miracle she came back to life, but was it really a miracle when she can now feel when people are going to die? And what about Troy, the mysterious boy who shares the same infliction as she does? Is he really all he seems? Or something more sinister.
The book focuses on Delany and her life after he accident, her meltdowns, her state of mind and her relationships. This book makes you THINK. Think about life, about death, about how one thing can affect your whole life so tremendously and make you question things you never would have before.Your mortality, your morals and who you truly are.
Delany was a good character, she was not shallow, she was not vain and she became strong over the course of the book. The other characters where good as well, Decker was a good friend for Delany and as a potential love interest, I rooted for him. Troy was also good, a bit wicked sure but his motives were reasonable to me. The only thing I though was wonky was Tara, she was just thrown in the story for the sole reason of being the ‘skank’ of the group, it was unneeded really.
The end was fantastic, the twist that came was heartbreaking and I really did not see it coming. All together this was one great book.

Thief of lives continues where Dhampir left off, Magiere, Leesil and Chap are now living in Miishka and running their own Tavern/Inn when a letter comes for Magiere. Seems the folks of Bela have been plagued with some undeads themselves, and some people have been getting killed. Bela needs help and has called upon Magiere and Leesil to eradicate the Noble Dead.
The writing style is the same, some good, witty quips some nice fighting scenes and plot twists. There was no downtime or lag that I came across, the story is engaging and characters intriguing. The new noble dead they face each have their own story and personalities (except for Sapphire who was just a major pain in the butt) we learn more about Leesils past, as well as some interesting tidbits about Chap.
How’s the romance? Well, nonexistent, and that is okay! I don’t like it when sappy romance or needless romance gums up my action. However, the end did make me smile and I am actually looking forward to the next book.

The cracked glasses had fused onto Kevin's face, and if that wasn't bad enough, the crack was making the glasses malfunction in the worst way. Now the glasses were having little seizures - backfiring like his mom's old car. The fractured lens would send off a random spark every few moments, and that spark would reach deep into Kevin's mind, dragging whatever he happened to be thinking about into the real world.
